Conservation by Design

Conservation by Design is a framework used by teams at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to provide guidance and tools to support developing and improving conservation strategies. Wendy and Kyle were part of a TNC team tasked with the redesign of the 2.0 version of Conservation by Design website.

The team met off-site with the Director of Organizational Learning at TNC, part of the Chief Conservation Office, to address concerns with the existing site and how v2.0 should address the changes in the framework in a web environment. In addition to using rapid prototyping to address UX challenges, we worked on how to effectively tell the story of Conservation by Design in ways that made sense to audiences both familiar and not familiar with the framework.

Impact & Results

I got to know Kyle when I worked with him to create a website that supported conservation practitioners to use The Nature Conservancy’s core conservation methodology, Conservation by Design. He became one of my favorite and most trusted colleagues, including in part because he stayed in touch with me after that project was over to make sure that the website continued to meet our needs and to update it when necessary.
