Four projects, four ways we've helped organizations get their work online.

A closer look at how we approach discovery, design and development — from internal science tools to public-facing community platforms.

Asia Pacific Data Repository

Decades of fish biomass and coral health research, moved off scattered hard drives and into one shared home.

TNC's Asia Pacific science team had years of research data sitting on local drives with no way to share it across the organization. We ran discovery sessions with science, leadership and evaluation teams, mapped audiences and priorities, then evaluated build options — in-house, open-source Dataverse, or a paid platform — before proposing a custom-built AWS S3 storage solution with a tailored dataverse landing page.

"Wendy gave us multiple solution options and clearly laid out the pros and cons of each — the process became far less burdensome."

Cohousing Association of the United States

A 20,000-member community platform, with a 40% lift in engagement since taking over as lead developer.

CohoUS is a national nonprofit advancing cohousing communities across the country. As primary developer since 2018, we've built out a member directory, classifieds marketplace, community calendar and an educational institute — continually shaping the site around what members actually need as the community has grown.

Conservation by Design

Retelling TNC's core conservation methodology for practitioners who'd never encountered it before.

Conservation by Design is the framework TNC teams use to build and improve conservation strategy. For the 2.0 redesign, we met on-site with the Director of Organizational Learning, used rapid prototyping to work through UX challenges, and focused hard on telling the framework's story clearly for audiences both familiar and completely new to it.

SNAPP · Multi-partner coalition

Science and Nature Partnership

One shared home for a science coalition spanning TNC, the Wildlife Conservation Society and UC Santa Barbara.

SNAPP brings together scientists and practitioners to deliver evidence-based solutions to global conservation challenges. We spent a week embedded in Santa Barbara with the board, science advisors and management team, running in-person testing and rapid prototyping with input from WCS, WWF, the World Bank and the Bezos Earth Fund along the way.
